 Kaduna Targets ₦120bn IGR In 2026 — KADIRS Chairman   Kaduna State has set an Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) target of ₦120 billion for the 2026 fiscal year, with the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADIRS) expected to play a central role in achieving the target. The Executive Chairman of KADIRS, Jerry Adams, FCTI, FNIM, FCE, CNA, disclosed this during the Service’s Annual Performance Review, Work Plan, and Strategic Retreat.  He explained that although the state government approved ₦74 billion as KADIRS’ official revenue target, the Service raised its internal benchmark to ₦80.09 billion to motivate staff to exceed expectations. He further stated that the proposed 2026 budget by the Kaduna State Planning and Budget Commission stands at ₦117.28 billion, with KADIRS expected to generate ₦74.28 billion, while Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) are projected to generate ₦43.24 billion.  *Anambra State Government Seals Off Markets Over Poor Waste Management System*

The popular Uwamgbede and Shoe Site Markets in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State were yesterday, February 15, 2024 sealed off by the State Government due to inability of the traders and market leaders to maintain a Clean and healthy environment.


The Commissioner for Environment, Engr. Dr. Felix Odimegwu while on inspection visit to the markets frowned at the state of the environment in the market. He therefore charged the market leaders and traders to take ownership of the environment; form a sustainable waste management system to maintain a clean, green, liveable and healthy environment for their daily markets activities. 


He added that every shop owner must be provided with a waste bin for easy waste disposal to curb illegal disposal of waste into the drainage and with active monitoring and enforcement to see to the proper waste management system in the markets.


Furthermore, Dr Odimegwu emphasized the importance of regular distilling of drainage for easy flow of water thereby limiting flooding.


In a swift response, the market leaders mobilized their members and commenced instant evacuation of waste and distilling of drainages.


In their comments, the Chairmen of  Uwamgbede and  Shoe Site Markets, Chief Obi and Chike Ezeani commended Mr. Governor, Prof. C.C Soludo for his developmental strides, especially in making the Anambra environment habitable and ease in doing business. They also appealed to the State Government to provide a modern public toilet facility in the market.


Moreover, Dr Odimegwu thanked the gallant officers of Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra ( Ocha Brigade) for their selfless and rapid response in seeing to the sealing off of the markets and instant compliance in the traders by evacuation of waste and desilting of drainage.
