 TROOPS OF OPERATION WHIRL STROKE ARREST HIGH PROFILE CRIMINAL IN BENUE COMMUNITY Troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE arrested a high-profile suspected criminal during an intelligence-driven operation in Agasha Village of Guma Local Government Area, Benue State, following a report of an attack on a local resident. The operation was launched on 13 March 2026 after security agencies received credible information regarding an attack on Mr Shaapera Seeta Michael in Agasha Village. Acting swiftly on the report, troops of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Intervention Battalion XI deployed under Operation WHIRL STROKE mobilised immediately to the affected area to track down the suspect responsible for the assault. Upon arrival, the troops cordoned the area to prevent the suspect from escaping while conducting a targeted search operation aimed at identifying and apprehending the alleged attacker.  Borno State: 100,000 Families To Benefit From Food Palliatives


The Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum has approved the distribution of food palliatives to over 100,000 vulnerable families to cushion the impact food inflation. 


Governor Zulum gave the approval during a meeting with traditional rulers, elders, community leaders and other stakeholders at Government House,  Maiduguri .


According to him, the beneficiaries would be selected from the twenty seven wards of Maiduguri Metropolitan Council (MMC) and Jere Local Government Area.


Zulum reiterated his administration's commitment to ensuring the welfare of Borno citizens, particularly to families struggling to access basic necessities of life, in the face of rising food prices and economic challenges.


                         “I have approved the distribution of palliative to 100,000 families in MMC and Jere Local Government Area to ease the hardship faced by our people in the wake of the rising cost of food and other essential goods,” Zulum said.


He announced that the distribution would commence in the coming days with Shehuri North, South, Feezan, Hausari, Gamboru and Mafoni wards.


Zulum assured that the distribution will be conducted in a transparent and accountable manner to ensure that the assistance reaches the targeted people. 


Similarly, Governor Babagana Zulum has also directed the distribution of the food palliative in seven Local Government Areas in the southern part of the state.


The local governments are Biu, Hawul, Shani, Kwaya Kusar, Askira-Uba, Chibok and Bayo.


He noted that his administration has consistently been distributing cash and food items in areas affected by Boko Haram insurgency to enhance their livelihood and ward-off vulnerable residents from joining the ranks of insurgents.
