 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville.  Education: Bayelsa Govt clears WAEC, NECO fees for 2011 Model Schools Students


The Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri has approved funds for payment of West African Examination Council (WAEC) and National Examination Council (NECO) Senior Secondary School’s Certificate examinations fees for Two Thousand and eleven (2011) students of the 13 Government Model Secondary Schools across the state participating in the examinations in 2024. 


The approval is in continuation of the established practice of the Governor in the last four years. 


The state Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, Hon. Ayibaina Duba stated this in a press release in Yenagoa. 


Hon. Ayibaina Duba disclosed that the annual payment of WAEC and NECO examinations is part of the Prosperity administration’s deliberate investment in education and human capital development which has been one of the major thrusts of the Senator Douye Diri administration in the last four years. 


According to the Information Commissioner, a total sum of One Hundred and Ninety-Two Million (N192,000,000.00) Naira only was approved for the certificate examinations this year alone.


The Government Spokesperson who said that the amount did not include other funds invested in the Unified Primary School Leaving Examination and Junior Secondary School Certificate Examination which are sponsored by the state Government and at no cost to the parents and their wards, added that the commitment of the governor to progressive ideas and projects in the education sector was borne out of Governor Douye Diri’s belief that education is the best legacy a society can bequeath to the upcoming generation.


Hon. Duba urged Bayelsans of all walks of life to look forward to the second tenure of Senator Douye Diri with great optimism assuring that Bayelsa is yet to see the best of the transformative leader.
