 Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported. The Russian Defence Ministry had claimed on Tuesday that units of its African Corps prevented an attempted coup on April 25, 2026 in Mali. EFCC RAISES SPECIAL TASK FORCE AGAINST DOLLARIZATION OF ECONOMY & MUTILATION OF CURRENCY. (PHOTO). #PRESS RELEASE

 EFCC Raises Special Task Force against Dollarization of Economy & Mutilation of Currency 

 

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has raised a Special Task Force in all its Zonal Commands for the enforcement of extant laws against currency mutilation and dollarization of the economy.

 

The Task Force, inaugurated by the Executive Chairman of the Commission, Ola Olukoyede, was raised to protect the economy from abuses, leakages and distortions exposing it to instability and disruption

 

Already, the Commission has made some arrests  of perpetrators of issuance of invoices in dollars and mutilation of the Naira in Lagos and Port Harcourt. 

 

Also, proprietors of private Universities and other institutions of higher learning charging fees in dollars have been invited by the Commission. 

 

The Commission is committed to the enforcement of all laws in place for the reflation and stimulation of the economy.
