 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. GEORGIA MOTHER ARRESTED IN THE DROWNING DEATH OF HER 1-YEAR-OLD WHO FEKL INTO A HOLE FILLED WITH WATER WHILE HER MOM WAS GRILLING. (PHOTO)

 Georgia mother arrested in the drowning death of her 1-year-old who fell into a hole filled with water while her mom was grilling.


34-year-old Alisha Stevens was arrested on Monday and charged with second degree murder in the drowning death of her 1-year-old daughter.


According to authorities, the Burke County Sheriff's office responded to the call of an unresponsive child at around 12:45 p.m. on Monday. Once on scene, they found someone attempting CPR on a small child. First responders immediately took over and transported the child to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.


An Investigation into the death revealed that Alisha whom is the mother of 5 children had left the child unattended during a cookout. The child had fallen into an approximately 4 ft deep hole that had been dug at some point and had filled with water.


Officials determined Alisha had been grilling while letting her daughter run around their property unsupervised. Alisha noticed the child missing and went looking for her only to find her unresponsive in the hole.


The family contends it was only an accident that could have happened to anyone and the family is struggling with this loss. They believe the charges against Alisha are unjustified. 


However as of writing this story, Alisha remains in the Burke County detention center without bond.


How do you feel about this story? I remember when my children were 12 months old or a little older and they still could not walk very far without tumbling. But it has admittedly been two decades since I've had children that little.


I would consider this more of a negligent homicide charge then a second degree murder charge but that's just my opinion.
