Sudan petitions African Union to overturn suspension Sudan has asked the African Union (AU) to reinstate its full membership and end the country’s suspension from participation in the bloc’s activities. Sudan ambassador’s to Uganda, Ahmed Ibrahim, said that Sudan’s suspension from the African Union had weakened African initiatives aimed at ending the war in the country and enabled external interference. “Accelerating Sudan’s return to the African family would prevent the foreign interference and, at the same time, pave the way for African solutions to African problems,” Ahmed said on Tuesday in remarks at a symposium in Kampala. “We are expecting an effective effort of Uganda as a friendly state, particularly President Yoweri Museveni, as a respected African leader, to support and realise the restoration of Sudan’s activities in the African Union,” he added, TRT Afrika reported.  Portable slams Nigerians for celebrating Super Eagles' win amid hardships

Controversial singer Habeeb Okikiola, known by his stage name Portable Omoolalomi, has criticized Nigerians for celebrating the victory of the Super Eagles against South Africa.

It’s common knowledge that the Super Eagles secured a win against South Africa in the semi-final of the 2023 African Cup of Nations on Wednesday.

In the aftermath of this triumph, Portable has expressed disappointment with Nigerians for directing their attention towards football rather than addressing the challenges facing the nation.

He pointed out the deplorable state of the roads and environment, the escalating value of the dollar, widespread hunger, and other pressing issues.

Despite these hardships, many are celebrating the Super Eagles’ victory, with some even sacrificing their last resources to watch the match.

Portable emphasized that the enthusiasm invested in football should instead be utilized to reduce hunger and mitigate the hardships prevalent in the country.

“How many of you have eaten to your satisfaction? Dollar don high, situation no good, road no good, we have bad road and bad environment. Hungry wan kill us, so what is making you happy? You are shouting ‘Up Nigeria ‘, wetin go up in Nigeria? So make the economy dey rise dey go? Make hungry dey rise. What is making you happy? Is it the cup you want to eat?

The energy you guys are using to do Up Super Eagles, why can’t you use it to chase hunger away? Don’t worry o, go carry your last card watch football.

The energy you guys use to come out for football, use it to come out for government, fire them, drag them. Na so una promote Grammy, we didn’t win, now we are promoting football, May God allow us win it. Come out and block the roads, and stop sapa”.
