 Terrorists, banditry activities in Northwest have reduced – Shehu Sani Shehu Sani, a former Kaduna Central Senator, has disclosed a decrease in the activities of terrorists and bandits in the Northwest. Sani said the recent killings of some top terrorists’ leaders could have been responsible for the decrease. Posting on X, the former lawmaker wrote: “In the last few weeks, there is a noticeable decrease in terrorist and banditry attacks and kidnappings in the North Western parts of this country. “The elimination of some of the top terrorist leaders must have been responsible.This is commendable and should be sustained.” In the past weeks, notable bandit leaders have been killed in the North. Those eliminated include- Haliru Kachalla Sububu or Buzu, Kachalla Tukur Sharme (killed by rival gang), Sani Black, another prominent bandit leader, killed along with his brother and two children, Kachalla Makore, Kachalla Mai Shayi Kachalla Tsoho Lulu and Mai’Yar Gitta.  Senegal talks 'propose extension' of Sall's term


An election stakeholders' meeting has proposed that Senegal's President Macky Sall continues to remain in office temporarily, even after his last scheduled day on April 2.


Political crisis talks called by Senegal's President Macky Sall on Tuesday advocated the head of state remain in office beyond the end of his term on April 2 until his successor is installed, six national forum participants told AFP.


The participants in the "national dialogue" said there was a "broad consensus" in favour of the move, despite the opposition of a number of political and civil society actors to such an extension.


On February 3, Sall announced he was indefinitely postponing the Senegalese presidential election scheduled for February 25.


His main reason for postponing the election was "unresolved disputes over who could run for president." At least 19 people have qualified as candidates.
