EASTER CELEBRATION: LASDRI FELICITATES MOTORING PUBLIC

… Appeals for Patience, Safety Consciousness

The General Manager, Lagos State Drivers’ Institute (LASDRI), Mrs. Afusat Tiamiyu felicitates the motoring public on this year’s Easter celebration, urging them to be more patient and safety conscious while driving during and beyond the holidays.

Tiamiyu, who stated this in an Easter greetings message to the motoring public at the Institute’s Headquarters, Oshodi, specifically appealed to commercial drivers not to turn the road to a racing track while trying to make multiple trips within a day to maximise profit noting that there would be an increase in social activities and corresponding vehicular traffic by the populace.

She stated that the present administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu understands and shares the pain motorists might be going through as a result of road diversions caused by ongoing construction work which is being experienced by motorists in some parts of the state.

While commending Mr. Governor for not resting on his oars towards making sure that Lagos roads are always in good condition, she stated that any vehicle plying Lagos roads during this period and beyond should be in proper working condition so as not to cause unnecessary impediments and thereby hinder the free flow of traffic.

The General Manager also appealed to drivers to avoid plying one way, obey traffic rules and regulations, check and maintain their vehicles regularly to ensure they are in good working condition, just as they should ensure to correct every abnormality on their vehicles.

“The brakes of your vehicles should be in proper condition to avoid unnecessary accidents by carrying out routine checks on the vehicles”, she stressed.

Furthermore, Tiamiyu reiterated the importance of undergoing the annual driver’s training exercise at LASDRI which is mandatory, stressing that once a driver is trained, hundreds of road users’ lives are protected.
