 Terrorists, banditry activities in Northwest have reduced – Shehu Sani Shehu Sani, a former Kaduna Central Senator, has disclosed a decrease in the activities of terrorists and bandits in the Northwest. Sani said the recent killings of some top terrorists’ leaders could have been responsible for the decrease. Posting on X, the former lawmaker wrote: “In the last few weeks, there is a noticeable decrease in terrorist and banditry attacks and kidnappings in the North Western parts of this country. “The elimination of some of the top terrorist leaders must have been responsible.This is commendable and should be sustained.” In the past weeks, notable bandit leaders have been killed in the North. Those eliminated include- Haliru Kachalla Sububu or Buzu, Kachalla Tukur Sharme (killed by rival gang), Sani Black, another prominent bandit leader, killed along with his brother and two children, Kachalla Makore, Kachalla Mai Shayi Kachalla Tsoho Lulu and Mai’Yar Gitta. The Senate plenary was further thrown into confusion today March 12, after Senator Ayom Jarigbe made a startling revelation. 

 

The lawmakers were deliberating on the recent allegation made by Senator Ningi made about the 2024 budget being padded when Jarigbe alleged that each Senator, especially the ‘’Senior Senators' received N500 million each from the 2024 budget. 

 

“We are going front and back on this issues concerning what came to our constituencies. If we want to go into those issues, all of us are culpable. Some so called Senior Senators here got 500M Naira each from the 2024 Budget, I am a ranking Senator, I didn’t get anything. Did I go to the press? Most of you got. No Senator has a right to accuse Senator Ningi.” - Senator Jarigbe said before his microphone was muted 

 

His other colleagues raised their voices in protest and objection to his claim.
