CJN Bans Lawyers, Court Officials to Stop Using ‘Barrister’ as Official Title The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, has directed lawyers, court officials and other legal personnel to discontinue the use of “Barrister” as a prefix to their names in all official engagements at the Supreme Court. The directive was contained in a memorandum dated July 13, 2026, and signed by the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court, Kabir Akanbi. The circular, which was addressed to litigation staff, legal practitioners, court registrars and lawyers, stated that the directive took immediate effect and was aimed at upholding professional standards within the apex court.  Vehicles, Buildings Ravaged by Raging Fire in Aba 


In a devastating turn of events, a fierce fire broke out at the premises of Chisco transport company on Milverton Road in Aba, resulting in the destruction of valuable properties worth millions of naira.


It is indeed a sorrowful day for all those affected by this unfortunate incident. The loss of money and properties is deeply lamentable. However, amidst this tragedy, it is a relief to know that no lives were lost.


Efforts are underway to investigate the cause of the fire and prevent such incidents from occurring in the future. The relevant authorities are urged to ensure that fire safety measures are strictly enforced to safeguard lives and properties.
