 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville. A TEEN LOSES BOTH HER LEGS AFTER BEING STRUCK BY A TRAIN. (PHOTO).


 Granite City, Illinois teen loses both legs after being struck by a train.


13-year-old Serenity McMillan was crossing the tracks near the 2900 block of Missouri Avenue on April 5th when tragedy struck.


In an instant, this happy and bubbly Coolidge Junior High cheerleader's life was inexorably changed.


Serenity attempted to cross the tracks but was either unaware of the impending danger or miscalculated the train's speed.


Sadly this young lady was struck by the train. When first responders arrived on scene, Serenity was deemed as having life threatening injuries. 


She was rushed to a nearby hospital where she unfortunately and ultimately lost both of her legs. 


In light of this horrible accident the town of Granite City pulled together in an amazing display of community and has raised nearly $10,000 for the family.


However with such life altering injuries there is no limit to the expenses this family will face and a GoFundMe is still active if anyone wishes to donate.


Mayor Michael Parkinson has publicly commended the actions of the first responders saying , "I'm not sure she'd be here without them". 


This is truly a tragic ordeal for Serenity and her family and they are in our thoughts. Keep fighting Serenity we are now the ones cheering you on! The sky is the limit!
