 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville.  BENUE: GUNMEN ATTACK ORBUNDE, ABDUCT WIFE, HOUSE HELP

Gunmen identified as armed Fulani herdsmen on Friday, April 12, 2024, attacked former Chief of Staff to Benue State Governor, Honorable Terwase Orbunde, and abducted his wife and house help.


The attack took place close to the Genocide Cemetery along Mobile Barracks-Welfare Quarters Road in Makurdi, the state capital at about six pm.


The former Chief of Staff escaped with a gunshot on his right arm while the attackers whisked away Mrs Abigail Kashimana Orbunde, and her house help, Patience Ogute.


Eyewitnesses state that Honorable Orbunde, his wife and house help, had gone to inspect the weeding of their farm located close to the road.


They said after the inspection of the work, five gunmen suddenly attacked their victims as they walked back to their car.


It was reported that they opened fire and Honorable Orbunde received a bullet on the right arm while they ordered him and the women to follow them to an unknown destination.


The shooting was said to have caused villagers and passersby to scamper for safety in different directions.


As they marched along, the former Chief of Staff was said to be bleeding profusely and unable to walk quickly.


The witnesses who watched from a distance said the leader of the group ordered him to walk away while the gunmen took the women to an unknown destination while good Samaritans conveyed Honorable Orbunde to hospital.
