 Al-Shabab says one of its commanders killed in drone strike Militant group al-Shabab said one of its top commanders, Mohamed Mire, was killed in a drone strike near Kunyo Barrow in Somalia’s Lower Shabelle Region, VOA reported. Al-Shabab did not say when the strike took place but blamed the United States for the killing. The United States military command in Africa, AFRICOM, late on Thursday confirmed conducting a Dec. 24 airstrike against al-Shabab, killing two militants some 10 kilometers southwest of Kunyo Barrow. The AFRICOM statement did not name the targeted militants but said no civilians were harmed. “The command will continue to assess the results of the operation and provide additional information as appropriate. Specific details about the units involved and assets used will not be released to ensure operational security,” said AFRICOM, which confirmed the strike was carried out in coordination with the Somali government.  I am a man, my Lord — Bobrisky confesses to judge in court during his sentencing 


There was drama in court on Friday, April 12 when Idris Okuneye, popular crossdresser known as Bobrisky, confessed being a man. 


The crossdresser has ignited controversy over his gender status. Known for dressing as a woman, Bobrisky had claimed to have undergone different surgeries to make change his gender.


At some point, the social media influencer even said he was ready to bear a child. But occasionally the socialite dresses as a man. Last year when he lost his father, Bobrisky attended the funeral in Ijebu Igbo area of Ogun State as a man.


In a viral video, the obviously embarrassed crossdresser was seen dodging the camera. Spotted in a black attire and a black scarf, he used a dark shade to conceal a portion of his face.


In the video clip, Bobrisky from time to time felt uncomfortable whenever the camera was tilted towards him. However, before he was handed a 6-month jail term on Friday, Justice Abimbola Awogboro asked the convict of his s+x, and he quickly replied, “I am a man My Lord.”


The judge subsequently sent him to jail and ruled that the jail term commenced from March 24, 2024, the day of his arrest. It would be recalled that the court had on April 5, 2024, convicted him after pleaded guilty to the four counts charge of abusing the Naira currency made against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

  SSANU, NASU threaten strike over withheld salaries The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have threatened to disrupt industrial peace in universities should the government fail to release the withheld salaries of members. The salaries were seized by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari during their strike in 2022. The unions, in a joint letter signed on Friday by the President of SSANU, Muhammed Ibrahim and General Secretary of NASU, Peters Adeyemi, questioned the rationale with which the government released four months withheld salaries to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities but failed to release the withheld salaries of non-academic staff.
