 Again, Gov Diri Tasks Traditional Rulers To Maintain Peace, Security At King Awala's Coronation  Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has again urged traditional rulers to remain focused on the maintenance of peace, security and stability in their various domains as part of their contribution towards the development of the state. Governor Diri made the call at the weekend during the coronation ceremony ofHis Royal Majesty King Victor Awala, Ebeni-Ibe the Eighth (VIII) of Atissa Kingdom in the Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, at the Bishop Dimieari Grammar School, Yenagoa, the state capital. Re: Suspects in the Case of “One-Chance Robbery, Abduction, and Fraud, and Rescue of Female Victim,” Arraigned in Court and Sentenced to Three Years Imprisonment


Refer to the Enugu State Police Command press release of Sunday, April 14, 2024, on the quoted title and be informed that the duo of Ejike Okorie “m”, aged 26, and Christopher Kindness “m”, aged 25, both of Ameke Ngwo in Udi LGA, have been arraigned in court and sentenced to three (3) years imprisonment, without an option of fine.


They were arraigned in the Enugu North Chief Magistrate Court of Enugu State, Nigeria, and found guilty of the offenses of conspiracy and abduction. 


Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, psc (+), has applauded the Court's swift judgment on the case. He, however, re-emphasized the need for citizens to remain law-abiding and support the police by arresting and handing over criminal suspects for statutory investigation and prosecution, as exemplified in this case. This, he notes, is against resorting to illegal self-help through jungle justice.
