 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots.  Tunde Onakoya sets new Guinness Chess Record


Tunde Onakoya, Nigerian chess master, has set a new Guinness World Record for the longest marathon chess.

He achieved the feat on Saturday. Clocking a time of 58 hours of continuously playing chess, he now push for 60 hours.

Onakoya took to his X account on Saturday to announce the setting of a new chess record.

He said: “We have done it. #LongestChessMarathon #58Hours #RecordBroken #NewRecordSet“

“We’re pushing to 60 hours guys. We’re not stopping yet. Let’s keep going. We have a fundraising goal to meet for the education of African children around the world.

“This is our why – the reason we are doing this. Let’s demonstrate to the world the incredible power of love. Together, we can make this happen,” he said.

The previous record was set by Norwegian players Hallvard Haug Flatebø and Sjur Ferkingstad, who played for 56-hour, 9-minute in 2018 and aimed at reaching 58 hours target.

Onakoya is a Nigerian chess master, coach founder of Chess in Slums Africa. He has organized a number of interventions for children across slums in Lagos state including Majidun (Ikorodu), Makoko and recently, Oshodi.

The children are engaged in a two-week session that seeks to unlock their potential through the game of chess while learning to read, write and acquire basic literacy skills.
