Widows Lauds Former State House Of Assembly, Says He Is A Husband To Them

By Juliana Nwachukwu

Widows of Onitsha North and South on March 29, declared the former All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) House Member that represented Onitsha II constituency in the state House of Assembly Mr Edward Ibuzo as their husband.

Ibuzo who was the APGA candidate for Onitsha North and South, Federal Constituency in the last election (2015- 2023) according to Mrs Philomena Maduike that "He always has the plight of the widows at heart.

"He called us here today, surprisingly, we ate, drank, pick gifts with #15,000 each and other things, I thank God for Ibuzo who always has good intentions for us, widows. Always caring for us.

Lady Ijeoma Ejeagwa and Mrs Uju Okonkwo described Mr. Ibuzo as God's sent to the widows, according to the duo" Ever before he contested, he had been carrying the widows along, he always celebrates with widows whether in festive periods or not.

"Look at our faces, smiles, getting all these things without stress, we pray that God will bless him for his generosity, protect, guide and grant him, the family their heart desires.

In his speech, Ibuzo told the widows and the women leaders, " I called you, mothers here today because of the happenings in the country, sow the seed of love in your respective families, wherever you see yourself no matter what, spread the love, if you leave here today, share the love no matter how little.

"I learnt from ArchBishop of Onitsha, Most Rev.Val Okeke that attitude to gratitude leads to beatitude", he quoted.

He maintained that he had widows foundation "Edward Ibuzo Widows Foundation" and it is still in our heart, so I called them here today to celebrate Easter together and to share love. Honestly speaking, i derived eternal joy doing all these charity work all the time.

“As Easter celebration reminds us of the death of God's only begotten son, the time to show love, I didn't plan for this, I just woke up days ago, something in me told me gratitude, gratitude, gratitude.

"I contested for house of representative but as God wants it, I couldn't be there, apart from that, there are other things to be grateful for, health, safety, when you see all these things happening today, you will know that it is only by His grace.

"I did it low key, these widows were selected from the 32 wards in Onitsha North/South with each #15,000 against my earlier plan of #20,000 each for 21 wards, if God supports, I need to be doing it every weekend, the message is clear, to share love not political.

On Nigerian politics, he decried the way politics are being played here in Nigeria, saying, "You may not see this face again contesting in whatever, I'm saying on probability, if only the people you want to represent understand that word "politics and mean politics, that is the time Liver to Deliver will come out.

"But if it is to pay money to get ticket or pay money to be voted for, count me out of politics because sometimes people believe that you have an intention, my intention is to love, nothing more, nothing less. From now, if you have anything to do with me, see me as a normal person in the street or former House member.

"There are many things we need to correct in this our country and state, I have lived abroad, my consent is more of abroad, that place politics works, and being disciplined makes it to work, but in Nigeria, people are cross carpeting, today in APC, tomorrow in PDP, we are not in that calibre.

"God have never disappointed me right from my Junior Secondary 3 when I lost my dad, I knelt at the Altar, before a crucifix and told God that I don't doubt him, but for the fact you have taken my earthly father, I take you as my Eternal Father and since then, he has not disappointed me, all I have to say is Thank You Jesus".

Highpoint of the celebration was picking of gift (game) like wrappers, packets of soaps, packets of toothbrush, lady's slippers, others.

There were also lucky winners who went home with 15 kg bags of rice.
