Also, 759 other prominent figures and organisations in Maitama II, Abuja. were also affected by the revocation which was for non-payment of Certificate of Occupancy. Transport Ministry Launches Special Trade License Training to Enhance Road Safety

The Anambra State Ministry of Transport has initiated a comprehensive training program on Special Trade Licenses, targeting various Motor Related Trade and Service Operators across the state in Awka during the weekend. 


Addressing representatives from these sectors, the Commissioner for Transport, Lady Patricia Igwebuike, emphasized the initiative's aim to elevate vehicle inspection standards, ensuring the roadworthiness of vehicles traversing Anambra roads.


"This training will ultimately benefit all relevant stakeholders transport sector. I urge your support in disseminating information to relevant parties, as this is a continuous effort to enhance proficiency and professionalism," remarked Lady Igwebuike, highlighting the ongoing commitment to statewide awareness.


In alignment with Gov. Chukwuma Soludo's vision for a prosperous and smart Anambra, the Permanent Secretary, Engr Michael Obiekwe underscored the crucial role of Special Trade Licenses in fostering adherence to international standards among vehicle-related traders and service operators.


The Chief Vehicle Inspection Officer, Engr Macdonald Achuam, elucidated the significance of the Special Trade License, defining it as the legal authorization for motor vehicle-related operations within the state, emphasizing the forthcoming launch of a Directory to streamline the program.


The Consultant and Coordinator of the Special Trade License Program, Barr. Fidelis Nnadi, emphasized the program's role in enhancing safety standards within the mechanical profession, citing research linking accidents to unprofessional practices.


Also, the Head of the Accident Investigation Unit, Engr. Eze Daniel Onyeka, stressed the importance of safety consciousness among motor mechanics to mitigate accidents and injuries, urging adherence to safety protocols.


Reacting, the State Chairman of the Nigerian Auto Mechanic Association, Mr Obiora Nwogbo, advocated for the establishment of Mechanic Villages and insurance of Trade License certificates to curb unqualified practitioners, pledging the association's full support.


Mr. Okafor, Chairman of the Panel Beaters and Painting Association, Awka branch, also echoed the need for ministry-led monitoring to eliminate unprofessional practices.


The training, attended by ministry staff and unit heads, marked a significant step toward enhancing road safety and professionalism within Anambra's motor-related industries.
