DEAF INDIANA MAN PASSES AWAY AFTER BEING SHOT CAUSING HIM TO CRASH AND BE EJECTED FROM HIS VEHICLE IN A ROADRAGE INCIDENT. (PHOTO).

Deaf Indiana man passes away after being shot causing him to crash and be ejected from his vehicle in a roadrage incident.

On May 1st, Indiana State Police received multiple calls regarding  a vehicle being shot at on I-65 before swerving off the road and crashing into a pond.

As officers arrived on scene they discovered 35-year-old Ryan Hawkins laying in the grass alongside the lake his car had gone into. He was unresponsive and later pronounced deceased. Scuba divers with the ISP quickly arrived on scene and were able to locate Hawkins's Hyundai Elantra submerged in the water.  They were able to confirm there were no other victims.

Investigators learned that Hawkins's car had been fired upon in what his family described as a "honking" incident. However due to being deaf he would have been unaware of any honking by other vehicles.

Information was quickly gathered that indicated a person in a Ford Explorer had pulled up to Hawkins's driver side window and began firing a weapon into his car.

Later the same evening police located the Ford Explorer and its occupants.  24-year-old Andre Briski and 23-year-old Shawna Rowland were taken into custody in relation to Hawkin's death.

Briski allegedly admitted to the shooting citing he was "afraid they were going to crash and lose their lives because Hawkins was brake checking him."

Briski has been charged with murder and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.

Rowland has been charged with assisting a criminal and obstruction of justice.

Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Ryan Hawkins in the face of such a senseless act.
