 Recording Academy adds five new Grammy categories, updates rules for 2026 awards NEW YORK - The Recording Academy is introducing five new categories and making several rule changes for the 2026 Grammy Awards in an effort to reflect the evolving global music landscape. Among the new additions is a best Asian pop music performance category, which will honor performances across genres such as K-pop, J-pop, C-pop and other Asian pop styles, with the award going to performers. A new best traditional pop vocal performance category will recognize artists whose work does not fit within modern pop styles. A best Latin song category will spotlight songwriters for Spanish-language Latin recordings. Changes are also coming to existing categories in R&B and folk music. The academy is adding a best R&B collaboration or duo/group performance category alongside a revised best R&B solo performance award.  HON.CHRIS NKWONTA CONDEMNS THE KILLING OF LATE MISS OCHEZE OGBONNA BY A CHINESE EXPATRIATE,TASKS SECURITY AGENCIES ON THOROUGH INVESTIGATION


Member Representing Ukwa West and Ukwa East Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Chief Hon.Chris Nkwonta has condemned in strong terms,the unfortunate incidents that occured yesterday night at the Inner Galaxy Steel Company located in Umuahala-Obuzor in Ukwa West Local Government Area,wherein; Miss Ocheze Ogbonna,a Crane Operator at the Inner Galaxy Steel Company and an indigene of Umuahala-Obuzor Asa was k*illed by a Chinese Expatriate and the shooting of protesting youths by the security agents safeguarding the facility..


Late Miss Ocheze reportedly died after a Chinese Expatriate working at the Inner Galaxy Steel Company located in Umuahala-Obuzor pushed her down from a heavy duty equipment (Crane) for rejecting and refusing his love advances and she has been confirmed dead.


In a statement issued by the Federal Lawmaker who is deeply saddened by the death of one of his Constituents explained that the manner with which the deceased was killed amounts to total disregard for the sanctity of life,an an act of hatred and wickedness exhibited by the Chinese Workers operating at the Inner Galaxy Steel Company against their host community, Umuahala-Obuzor,an area known for their peaceful disposition while seeking for justice in the circumstances sorrounding her unfortunate death.


According to the statement,”Miss Ocheze Ogbonna's death orchestrated by a Chinese Expatriate is a gross abuse of the rules of engagement and a total disregard for the sanctity of human life and an affront on their host community, Umuahala-Obuzor and the peace loving people of Ukwa West Local Government Area..


"This barbaric act once again calls to mind the incessant calls by well-meaning Nigerians that the Chinese Expatriates operating in Nigeria do not have regard for human lives and must be called to order immediately to avert the breakdown of law and order..

I strongly condemn the dastardly act and brutal killing of late Miss Ocheze Ogbonna by the Chinese Expatriate who has been identified as Mr.Power"


“I hereby call on the Inspector General of Police, IGP,Kayode Egbetokun,the Chief of Army Staff,Lt.Gen.Taoreed Lagbaja,the Abia State Commissioner of Police, CP, Kenechukwu Onwuemelie,the Honourable Minister of State, Labour and Productivity,Hon.Barr.Mrs Nkeiruka Onyejeocha and the Trade Union Congress to ensure that the culprit, who i understand is being shielded by the security agents is brought to book and made to face the full wrath of the law..
