 Catholic priest reportedly klled in Kogi  A Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Samuel Opeyemi Oyetoro, has been reportedly killed by unknown assailants in Ajaokuta, Kogi State. According to reports, the priest was stabbed multiple times along Ajaokuta road on Wednesday, 29th July 2026. His body was found dumped at the roadside.  Rev. Fr. Oyetoro was born in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State and a native of Ayetoro in Ijumu Local Government Area.  Until his death, he served as a priest at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Egbe.  IMO STATE GOVT TO SPONSOR ANOTHER SET OF CHRISTIAN PILGRIMS TO HOLYLAND 


AS NCPC AWARDS GOVERNOR UZODIMMA THE PILGRIMAGE GOVERNOR OF THE YEAR 


The Imo State Government, under the leadership of Governor Hope Uzodimma, is set to sponsor another group of Christian pilgrims to the Holy Land, affirming its commitment to fostering religious activities and enabling believers to deepen their spiritual journey. 


This announcement coincided with Governor Uzodimma being honored as the Pilgrimage Governor of the Year 2024 by the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC), alongside being appointed the first Christian Pilgrimage Ambassador of Nigeria. 


During the recognition ceremony, Governor Uzodimma expressed gratitude to the NCPC for their acknowledgment and emphasized the fruitful partnership between the commission and the state government, stating, "We are united in our pursuit of God's work." 


Bishop STV Adegbite, the Executive Secretary of the NCPC, lauded Governor Uzodimma for his unwavering support towards the Imo State chapter of the commission, highlighting his sponsorship of the largest number of pilgrims in the state, a feat that earned him the prestigious awards.
