Governor Fubara stated this while addressing the leadership and members of the Ijaw Youth Council who were on solidarity rally to Government House, Port Harcourt on Thursday as part of activities to mark the 56th Major Isaac Jasper Adaka Boro Day.

The governor emphasised that every genuine Rivers man and woman, irrespective of tribe or ethnicity, is a liberator, declaring that the forces of oppression have already been defeated.

"By the special grace of God what they thought they would have done to us as we celebrate our one year in office has failed. They are now the restless ones having sleepless nights."

"It shows that we have the Ijaw blood and that is the blood of action. Less talk, more action."

He appealed to IYC to conduct themselves peacefully as they celebrate the sterling qualities of the late freedom fighter, Major Isaac Jasper Adaka Boro, stressing that he was a hero who stood for equity,  justice and fair play.

"And because he stood for those unique qualities, even after his death we still celebrate him as a liberator."

Gov. Fubara reiterated that the focus of his government today is not to bicker but to foster development. In celebrating the victory of the state, he lauded the leadership of IYC for standing firm even in the face of division.

While charging the leadership and members of IYC to be good ambassadors to the Ijaw nation, Gov. Fubara  assured them of establishing the Secretariat of the body in Rivers State before the next celebration of Adaka Boro Day in 2025 and promised to look into other requests which they submitted.

Speaking earlier, the President of Ijaw Youth Council, Comrade Jonathan Lokpobiri commended Gov. Siminalayi Fubara for his commitment to leadership and noted that they were using the commemoration of Major Isaac Jasper Adaka Boro Day to declare solidarity for the governor. They assured him of their support at all times.

"Because your struggles represent the hopes of all Ijaw people everywhere in the world and we believe that at the slightest call the Ijaw nation will rally behind you."

He called on detractors to allow peace in the state so that there will be progress and development in line with the mandate given by the people.
