 Recording Academy adds five new Grammy categories, updates rules for 2026 awards NEW YORK - The Recording Academy is introducing five new categories and making several rule changes for the 2026 Grammy Awards in an effort to reflect the evolving global music landscape. Among the new additions is a best Asian pop music performance category, which will honor performances across genres such as K-pop, J-pop, C-pop and other Asian pop styles, with the award going to performers. A new best traditional pop vocal performance category will recognize artists whose work does not fit within modern pop styles. A best Latin song category will spotlight songwriters for Spanish-language Latin recordings. Changes are also coming to existing categories in R&B and folk music. The academy is adding a best R&B collaboration or duo/group performance category alongside a revised best R&B solo performance award.  POLICE ARREST SUSPECT FOR DEFRAUDING THAI CITIZEN OF $216,000 AND N30M 


Detectives of the State Criminal Investigative Department (SCID), Lagos State Police Command, have arrested one Chimereze Chinedu 'm' for defrauding a citizen of Thailand of the sum ofTwo Hundred and Sixteen Thousand Dollars. 


Chimereze defrauded his victim under the pretense of selling 37 tricycles to her. He further expanded his fraudulent activity by forging letters of the State Criminal Investigative Department, Lagos showing that the tricycles were seized by the police and further extorted Thirty Million Naira from the victim to purportedly secure the release of the tricycles.


The suspect was arrested on May 10, 2024 in Enugu State following weeks of diligent investigation and technical support from the INTERPOL.

He is currently in detention, as investigations continue to uncover details towards identifying and apprehending his accomplices.


The Lagos State Police Command remains steadfast in its commitment to combating internet fraud and ensuring that perpetrators are brought to justice.
