 Anambra to go after houses without proper drainage in order to combat Erosion  Worried by the rising menace of gully erosion, the Anambra State Government has threatened to enforce regulations requiring residents to provide proper drainage for storm water from their homes. The State Executive Council (ANSEC), which announced the proposed enforcement, lamented that erosion remains an existential challenge in Anambra, blaming the situation on careless actions by some communities and lapses by regulatory bodies in enforcing environmental laws. Briefing journalists after the weekly executive council meeting, the Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, said it had been observed that some residents channel storm water from their homes directly onto roads, where it accumulates and worsens the erosion crisis across the state. “ANSEC has resolved to step up enforcement to compel residents to properly channel and manage storm water from their houses. POLICE NABS ONE-CHANCE ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECTS IN NASARAWA STATE. (PHOTOS).

 Police nabs one-chance armed robbery suspects in Nasarawa State.


Nasarawa State Police command says it has apprehended two suspects for allegedly operating a one-chance robbery gang in the state.


A statement signed by the Police Public Relation Officer DSP Ramhan Nansel, and made available to newsmen on in lafia,. explained that their operatives attached to Anguwan Lambu Division, Keffi, Keffi Local Government Area have arrested the suspects based on intelligence.


According to the statement said preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects usually posed as taxi drivers to pick unsuspecting passengers and drive away to unknown destinations.


It says they thereafter, dispossess their victims of money and other belongings and abandoned them while sometime kill them.


The PPRO said that the suspects have confessed to the commission of the crime and said they have been operating for over 10 years and robbed a lot of people. 


They suspects further said that they were recently released from Shendam custodian facility, Plateau State, for similar offence after serving their jail term.


He said that the police recovered a Toyota Carina II vehicle with registration number Abuja CO 212 ABC, one Axe and Hammer from the suspects as exhibits.


The police spokesperson further said that the suspects would be charge to court for prosecution after investigation.
