No good deed goes unpunished.  A Florida sea tow captain saved a man from a burning ship only to be shoved overboard and have his boat stolen. This shocking incident occurred near Marco Island on March 6th. On that date, a call went out regarding a burning boat. The captain of a sea tow boat heard the distress call and rushed to provide aid. He was able to quickly locate the burning boat and  discovered 40-year-old, Ryan Deiter, and his dog onboard the burning ship. Wasting no time, the captain of the sea tow boat was able to maneuver alongside the distressed boat and begin efforts to extricate Deiter and his dog from the doomed vessel.  Eventually, the sea tow captain was able to pull both Deiter and his dog onboard the tow boat. However, once Deiter was pulled to safety, he repaid a stranger's kindness with treachery.  Deiter shoved the captain from his own boat and fled the scene in the stolen boat, leaving the man who had just risked his own vessel and life...

This 83-year-old Texas man was swept away in flood waters but not before he made sure his wife and dog were safe...

Joseph West passed away as a result of the flooding in Texas over the weekend. However, his family says he should be remembered as a hero due to his actions in the last moments of his life.

According to family, Joseph and his wife Anne noticed water on their floor in the early morning hours of May 5th. The couple got up and attempted to exit the home, but by the time they made it to the living room the water was to their knees.

They knew they needed to escape to higher ground... and quickly.

Unfortunately water levels prevented them from escaping through the homes doors. Joseph simply couldn't open then by that point.

Joseph then ushered his beloved Anne into the bedroom where he immediately busted out a window. He then got his Anne and their dog safely out of the window. He instructed Anne to head to higher ground with the dog while he made his way out of the window.

Once on higher ground Anne checked on his progress.  He reportedly reassured her, "I'm okay and I'm out,  but I can't get past the current".

Joseph was swept away soon after that last statement. First responders were eventually able to make their way to the area and rescue Anne and her dog. After searching the area they were able to recover Joseph's body.

Our thoughts are with the family of Joseph, he truly was a hero. He will be remembered as a hero.
