 Meta to end end-to-end encryption for Instagram direct messages Meta is ending end-to-end encryption for Instagram direct messages, a feature the company says will no longer be available after May 8, 2026. Unlike WhatsApp, Instagram never offered encryption to all users or as a default; only select users in certain regions could opt in on a per-chat basis. A Meta spokesperson explained that the decision comes due to low adoption. “Very few people were opting in to end-to-end encrypted messaging in DMs, so we’re removing this option from Instagram in the coming months,” the spokesperson said. “Anyone who wants to keep messaging with end-to-end encryption can easily do that on WhatsApp.” Meta’s messaging strategy has shifted multiple times over the years. WhatsApp chats have been encrypted since 2016, and the company began rolling out default encryption for Messenger in 2023. 15 HOODLUMS ARRESTED BY BENUE INTERNAL SECURITY IN WADATA. (PHOTO).

 Benue Internal Security Arrest 15 Hoodlums in Wadata, Awe Streets.


The Benue State Internal Security in collaboration with the Nigeria Police has arrested about fifteen suspected hoodlums who attacked uniform men and inflicted injury on them while on duty in parts of Makurdi metropolis.


A combined team of police operatives from the Anti - Cultism unit, Operation Zenda, D5, Benue State Community Protection Guard (BSCPG) and the Benue State Livestock  Guard (BSLG), arrested the suspected hoodlums  after it raided Wadata Abbattaoir area and  Awe community.


The Special Adviser to Benue Governor on Security and Internal Affairs, Joseph Har, disclosed that two suspects were arrested during the Operation and a stolen Bajaj motorcycle was recovered them.


According to the Adviser on security and internal affairs, the arrest was upon obstruction, assault, criminal force, intimidation, and causing grievous hurt by hoodlums from Wadata area on Saturday, when operative of the livestock Guards came under attack with over sixty (60) armed youths while apprehending at the modern market gate.


The hoodlums were said to have fired shots and severally injured personnel of the Benue State lives Guard (BSLG) and recovered the cattle. Men of Operation Zenda, a joint police team also drafted were attacked by the hoodlums in Wadata.


The Security adviser stated that the Anti Open Grazing and Ranching Establishment Law which is still in force is not meant to be against the Fulani people but one that must be obeyed by anyone who wishes to rear cattle in the state.


He emphasises that for any group of youths to pick up arms against the state officials in the state Capital is a source of concern and worry, the team raid in Awe street further led to the arrest of 11 persons.
