El-Rufai Tells His Supporters To Avoid Verbal Confrontation With Governor Uba Sani's Aides, Says The Governor's Behavior Will Lead To His Downfall

Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai expressed his nonchalance towards the ongoing investigation into his administration by the state House of Assembly, doubting the probe's success.

He made this statement while celebrating Sallah with his associates in Kaduna State.

He also counselled them to avoid a verbal confrontation with the Governor Uba Sani's aide, predicting that the governor’s behavior would ultimately lead to his downfall, likening it to a fragile candy that would eventually crumble and fall apart, Daily Nigerian reports.

“Support the governor and his cabinet members with prayers for them to do the right thing. Don’t feel hurt with what’s going on. When he is done prancing, he will fall off like candy [in a kid’s hand],” he said.

In March, Governor Sani lamented the huge debt inherited from his predecessor, El-Rufai, on May 29, 2023.

Sani said the state was now left with funds not enough to pay salary.

Recently, the Kaduna State House of Assembly asked Governor Uba to stop repaying all the loans collected by the previous government of El-Rufai, found to have been done without due process.

This is part of the recommendations made by an ad hoc committee set up by the House of Assembly headed by Henry Zacharia.

The committee said, “That, all Loans (Domestic and Foreign) obtained by the Kaduna State Government between 29th May, 2015 to 29th May, 2023 and found by the Committee to have been obtained without due process are not binding on the State and the State Government should henceforth stop honouring all. Limit obligations arising from them.”
