 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville.  POLICE ARREST MAN FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER



Operatives of Rapid Response Squad (RRS) yesterday night arrested one suspect for using a hammer to inflict serious injury to the head of a 65 years old man around Pako Bus Stop, Iyana Ipaja.


The suspect, Sodiq Ishola, 29 years old, was arrested around 8:30 p.m Monday at Iyana Ipaja area after he was restrained and arrested from inflicting further injuries to the head of his victim (name withheld).


Preliminary investigations by the police revealed that the suspect and one accomplice trailed the victim and his wife from Lagos Island on bike to Iyana Ipaja before Ishola descended on him.


He had inflicted severe injuries to the head of his victim before RRS operatives on patrol arrested him.


The victim was rushed to the hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment while the suspect was transferred to RRS Headquaters in Alausa, Ikeja.


The Commander, Rapid Response Squad (RRS), CSP Yinka Egbeyemi  has directed that the suspect be transferred to the State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID) for further investigations.
