 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville.  25 Persons Killed In Kano-Kaduna Highway Accident


The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) says at least 25 persons died in an accident that occurred along the Kano-Kaduna highway on Monday.


In a statement, Olusegun Ogungbemide, the corps’ public education officer, said the accident occurred around 3:15am and involved a trailer conveying about 90 persons. 


“However, FRSC emergency and rescue team was able to rescue 12 persons without injury from the crash,” the statement reads.


“The rescued victims have been taken to the Murtala Muhammad Specialist hospital in Kano for proper medical attention.”


He added that the truck driver has been arrested and handed over to the police for investigation and possible prosecution.


Shehu Mohammed, FRSC corps marshal, urged traditional and religious leaders to support the corps in the campaign against conveying humans, goods and animals together in articulated vehicles.
