 Lagos Court Jails NOGASA Chair, Fatuyi Phillips 21 Years  for N43.5m Fraud    Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, on Monday, November 18, 2024, convicted and sentenced Fatuyi Yemi Philips, Chairman, Natural Oil and Gas Suppliers Association of Nigeria, NOGASA, to 21 years imprisonment for N43.5m fraud.   The Lagos Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on April 5, 2022, arraigned Philips alongside his firm, Oceanview Oil and Gas Limited, on a two-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of N43, 502,000.00   Count one reads: "Fatuyi Yemi Philips and Oceanview Oil and Gas Nigeria Limited, on or about the 28th day of September, 2016 at Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, with intent to defraud, obtained the aggregate sum of N43, 502,000.00 from Elochukwu Okoye and Elebana Unique Ventures Nigeria Limited on behalf of WAPCIL Nigeria Limited under the false rep

Achievement of the Commissioner of Police Bauchi State Command from his assumption of duty on 6th July 2023 to date.


Bauchi State is one of the States in North East geopolitical zones confronted with numerous security challenges such as Kidnapping, Armed Banditry, Cattle Rustling, thugs and thuggery, Rape and other manifestation of violent crimes. The location of Lame Burra Forest in Ningi L.G.A, Balmo Forest in Ganjuwa L.G.A, Yuda and Mundu Forest in Toro L.G.A, Dajin Madam and Yankari Forest in Alkaleri L.G.A provided a cover for criminal elements who perpetrate heinous crimes. subsequently, on the assumption of duty on the 6th of July, 2023 as the 45th Commissioner of Police Bauchi State Command has put in place a proactive measures through robust synergy with relevant stakeholders and other security and Quasi-Security  agencies;Vigilante groups; Religious/Traditional institutions and youths. The state is gradually enjoying relative peace. 


ACHIEVEMENTS RECORDED WITHIN THE PERIOD UNDER REVIEW:


In the fight against all forms of crimes and criminality in Bauchi State with the sustained operations of community policing engagements and other crime-fighting strategies.

The Command has with vigor continued to execute its mandate and made remarkable achievements in the course of policing the state.

This fact was achieved as a result of strategies mentioned above under the superintendence and directives of the Commissioner of Police CP Auwal Musa Muhammad, psc.

Consequently, the Command within the period from 6th July 2023 to date, recorded a total of one thousand one hundred and forty-eight (1148) cases and arrested a total of two thousand and seventy-seven (2,077) suspects in connection to various crimes committed within and outside the State.


The summary of major achievements recorded is hereunder.


The Command has in the year 2023, recorded one hundred (100) cases of Armed Robbery were recorded and two hundred and twelve (212) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases, one hundred and thirty-six (136) cases of Culpable Homicide were recorded and two hundred and seventy-one (271) suspects were arrested in connection with cases, one (1) case of Attempted Suicide was recorded and one (1) suspect was arrested, eighteen (18) cases of Grievous Hurt /Wounding were recorded and thirty-two (32) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases,  two (2) cases of Assault were recorded and two (2) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases, one hundred and twenty-six (126) cases of Rape/Indecent Assault were recorded and one hundred and fifty-seven (157) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases, sixty-seven (67) cases of Kidnapping were recorded and one hundred and fifty-nine (159) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases, nine (9) cases of Unnatural Offence were recorded and eleven (11) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases, twenty-five (25) cases of  Theft/Stealing were recorded and forty-eight (48) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases, one hundred and sixty-three (163) cases of False Pretense/Cheating were recorded and one hundred and eighty-nine (189) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases, one case of Forgery was recorded and one (1) suspect was arrested in connection with the case, Fourteen (14) cases of Receiving Stolen Properties were recorded and twenty-four (24) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases, two (2) cases of Unlawful Possession were recorded and four (4) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases, eleven (11) cases of Mischief by Fire were recorded and nineteen (19) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases, three (3) cases of Forgery of currency were recorded and six (6) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases, twenty-five (25) cases of Breach of Public Peace were recorded and fifty-six (56) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases, seventeen (17) cases of Offence Against Fire Arms were recorded and thirty-seven (37) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases, fifty-six (56) cases of Offence Against Person were recorded and ninety-one (91) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases, twenty-eight (28) cases of Other Offence Against Properties were recorded and forty-seven (47) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases, two (2) cases of Other not A/B were recorded and three (3) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases. A total number of eight hundred and six cases (806) were recorded and one thousand three hundred and sixty-five (1,365) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases.


While in the present year 2024, the Command recorded thirty-nine (39) cases of Armed Robbery and one hundred and eleven (111) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases, sixty (60) cases of Culpable Homicide were recorded and one hundred and fifty three (153) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases, twelve (12) cases of Attempted Culpable Homicide were recorded and twenty-three (23) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases, four (4) cases of Grievous Harm/Wounding were recorded and eight (8) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases, two (2) cases of Assault were recorded and two (2) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases, fifty-eight (58) cases of Rape/Indecent Assault were recorded and ninety-one (91) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases, seventeen (17) cases of Kidnapping were recorded and thirty-six (36) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases, five (5) cases of Unnatural Offences were recorded and seven (7) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases, nine (9) cases of Theft/Other/Cheating were recorded and nineteen (19) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases, four (4) cases of Forgery were recorded and four (4) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases, two (2) cases of Receiving Stolen Properties were recorded and four (4) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases, four (4) cases of Mischief by Fire were recorded and thirty-six (36) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases, four (4) cases of Disturbance of Public Peace were recorded and twelve (12) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases, four (4) cases of Offences Against Fire Arms were recorded and eight (8) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases, forty-two (42) cases of Other Offence Against Persons were recorded and seventy-seven (77) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases, twenty-two (22) cases of Other Offences Against Properties were recorded and forty-eight (48) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases, one (1) case of Other Offences not A/B was recorded and one (1) suspect was arrested in connection with the case. A total number of three hundred and forty-two (342) cases were recorded and seven hundred and twelve (712) suspects were arrested in connection with the cases.


 Consequently, the Command during the course of operations rescued one hundred and seventy-one (171) kidnapped victims from the kidnappers.  

Furthermore, the Command was able to recover the following;

Thirty-seven (37) AK47 riffles

Sixteen (16) fabricated AK 47 riffles

Three hundred and seventeen (317) live ammunition calibre of AK-47 riffles. 

Two hundred and fifty (250) Dane guns

Eight (8) vehicles

Four hundred and eighty-three (483) cow/sheep rustled.

Two thousand one hundred and sixteen (2116) different types of knives.

Three thousand four hundred and nineteen (3,419) different models of handheld phones.


MOP-UP PROLIFERATION FIREARMS

The operation was carried out in various locations including Mansur/Magama, Yankari forest, Lere, Masussuka and Gamji, all in Alkaleri and Ningi local government areas which have been bedevilled by the activities of kidnappers and armed bandits in response to the command to aggressively pacify the affected location from the activities of criminals.


Consequently, the following calibre of weapons were recovered during the operation;

Three hundred and seventy-seven (377) rounds of 7.62x51mm NATO ammunition

Sixty-five (65) rounds of 7.62x39mm ammunition 

Four (4) AK47 riffles

One (20) fabricated and cut-to-size guns 

One Sterling Mk4 SMG riffle 

Nine (9) Empty magazines 


It is pertinent to emphasize here these aforementioned successes were made possible through information availed to the Police from members of the public, who as partners in progress with the Nigeria Police share our desires and aspirations to enable a safe and secure environment for all residents in the State.


The Command has put in place crime preventive measures which include visibility policing, community partnership, constant raids of black spots, regular foot and vehicular patrols, surveillance on buildings and vulnerable areas, stop and search, and intelligence-led on policing through partnership with sisters security agencies and other non-governmental organizations in order to nip in the bud, all forms of crime/criminals and their hideouts in the state.


Considering the geometric growth of security concerns through advanced technologies, the imperativeness of policing with counter-superior facilities and equipment has become beseeching to reverse the increasing ugly trends of crime. therefore

The commissioner of Police Bauchi State Command CP MM AUWAL conclusively invites all to view and take security as the business of all, and support the Nigeria Police Force from any angle in our unrelating drive to make the citizens sleep with their two eyes closed.
