 Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported. The Russian Defence Ministry had claimed on Tuesday that units of its African Corps prevented an attempted coup on April 25, 2026 in Mali.  Osun governor Adeleke’s phone hacked, government issues warning


The Osun State Government has issued an urgent alert to the public regarding a security breach involving one of the telephone numbers of Governor Ademola Adeleke.


Members of the public are urged to ignore communications from the compromised number, +234 803 365 7555, which has been hacked, prompting an urgent public alert.


In an official statement, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, spokesperson to the Governor, advised the public to ignore any calls or messages originating from the compromised number. “Please disregard any solicitation from +234 803 365 7555,”


Rasheed stated. “Appropriate action is ongoing to remedy the situation.”


Authorities are currently investigating the breach and are working diligently to secure the Governor’s communication lines.


The public is urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the relevant authorities.
