 Malian army withdraws from key Tessalit military camp: sources Mali’s army and its Russian mercenary allies have surrendered Camp Tessalit, a strategic military post in the north, multiple sources told the AFP news agency on Friday. An official from the Tuareg-led separatist group claimed soldiers and mercenaries at the camp had "surrendered", following a fierce fight over the weekend. Simultaneous attacks in Mali by militants linked to Al Qaeda and separatist Tuareg rebels on April 25 showed how fighters ​from different groups with different goals were able to strike at the heart of the West African country's military government. Gunfire and explosions were reported in the capital Bamako and around a large military base outside the capital, as well as Gao and central areas, as gunfire continuing in the northern city of Kidal.  Registrar lauds Anambra Excellence in NECO Examinations, Urges Boost in Enrollment

The Registrar, National Examination Council (NECO), Prof Ibrahim Wushishi  has disclosed that Anambra State is performing very well in all examinations conducted by the council. 


The NECO Registrar disclosed this in an interactive session with the Anambra State Commissioner of Education, Prof.Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, and Heads of Departments at the Ministry of Education headquarters in Awka, Anambra State.


The Prof praised the state for its exceptional performance in NECO examinations, highlighting that the state recorded the highest number of successful candidates in the recent Gifted Children Entrance Examination for admission into Federal Government Academy, Suleja thus showcasing its educational prowess.


He emphasized the importance of NECO certification as a national identity and a gateway to higher education, urging Anambra to increase students' enrollment. He also advocated for the introduction of the NECO Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) to enhance employment opportunities for students.


Reacting to the accolades, Prof Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, expressed gratitude for the recognition of Anambra's educational strides, reiterated the state government's commitment to providing quality education for all, aligning with the vision to build a prosperous and educated society.


The event culminated in the exchange of gifts between the Ministry of Education and NECO, symbolizing a collaborative effort towards educational advancement in Anambra State.
