 South Africa says US misrepresented its policies after visa curbs South Africa's foreign ministry said on Wednesday that it ‌had noted with concern U.S. visa restrictions on some people from South Africa announced by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio a day earlier. The foreign ministry added in a statement that ⁠the U.S. announcement aligned with "the mischaracterisation of South Africa's domestic policies by fringe groups". "We maintain that challenges in our bilateral relations with the USA can only be resolved by constructive engagement through state actors on both sides of the diplomatic channel not unilateral acts," the statement said, Reuters reported.  Suspected Armed Robbers Kill Woman In Ekiti


There was panic in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti state capital as gunmen suspected to be armed robbers shot dead a woman.


The incident which has raised concerns among residents of the state’s capital occured along NTA Road, Ado Ekiti around 7 am on Saturday.


The woman, whose identity is not yet ascertained, LEADERSHIP gathered, was killed by suspected armed robbers operating on motorcycle.


A source close to the area said, “The gunmen who were riding on motorcycle made attempt to forcefully dispossess the woman of her bag while standing by the road.


“The woman was said to have resisted the attempt and refused to surrender the her bag and others valuables to them.


“She was shot by her assailants who fled the scene immediately”.


People around scampered to safety while business owners and traders hurriedly closed their shops.


Recall that no fewer than four persons were killed in Ado Ekiti about two weeks ago with the State Police Command making some arrest in connections with heinous crimes.


Confirming the incident, the Ekiti State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Sunday Abutu said the killing was more of a robbery incident.


He disclosed that the sum of forty thousand, two hundred and eighty naira (N40,280) was found in the bag of the deceased woman.


Abutu said her body has been deposited in the morgue and the police have launched manhunt for the perpetrators.
