AIRCRAFT CRASHES IN OWERRI AIRPORT WITH FOUR PERSONS ONBOARD. (PHOTOS).

 Aircraft crashes in Owerri airport with four persons onboard A Cessna 172 aircraft with registration number 5N-ASR, operated by Skypower Express, crashed at the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, Owerri, Imo state on Tuesday evening, December 16. The aircraft with four passengers and crew members onboard, had departed Kaduna International Airport en route to Port Harcourt International Airport before diverting to Owerri after the crew declared an emergency. Confirming the incident, the Director, Public Affairs and Family Assistance of the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), Mrs. Bimbo Oladeji, said the agency had been notified of the crash. According to the NSIB, the aircraft crashed on the approach area of Runway 17, but no fatalities have been recorded so far. Also confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force, Airport Command, Lagos, ASP Mohammed Adeola, said the aircraft sustained varying degrees of damage. TWO ABDUCTED KADUNA JOURNALISTS REGAIN FREEDOM. (PHOTO).


 Two Abducted Kaduna Journalists Regain Freedom 


Two journalists who were kidnapped by bandits a week ago have regained their freedom.


Abdulgafar Alabelewe of the Nation Newspaper and AbdulRaheem Aodu of Blueprint Newspaper were abducted from homes in the Danhonu community in Millennium City of Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna on Saturday, July 7th.


Although police authorities in the state have not confirmed the development, a relative of one of the victims told Channel Television that they were released on Saturday afternoon, and are on their way to Abuja for medical attention


One of the journalists Abdulgafar Alabelewe was released along with his wife and two children who were kidnapped together.


The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Kaduna State Council Asma’u Yawo Halilu also confirmed the release of their freedom.


“To the glory of God Almighty, our colleagues, Abdulgafar Alabelewe, Abduraheem Aodu, and their families have been released,” the statement read.


“The Council extends her profound gratitude to the office of the CP, Kaduna State Command, office of the NSA, the DG, DSS, the Inspector General of Police, Kaduna State government, the NUJ President, and all well-meaning Nigerians that prayed along with us during the trying time.”


The rescued journalists have been taken to Abuja for debriefing by security agencies and also to get medical treatment.
