 Lagos Court Jails NOGASA Chair, Fatuyi Phillips 21 Years  for N43.5m Fraud    Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, on Monday, November 18, 2024, convicted and sentenced Fatuyi Yemi Philips, Chairman, Natural Oil and Gas Suppliers Association of Nigeria, NOGASA, to 21 years imprisonment for N43.5m fraud.   The Lagos Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on April 5, 2022, arraigned Philips alongside his firm, Oceanview Oil and Gas Limited, on a two-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of N43, 502,000.00   Count one reads: "Fatuyi Yemi Philips and Oceanview Oil and Gas Nigeria Limited, on or about the 28th day of September, 2016 at Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, with intent to defraud, obtained the aggregate sum of N43, 502,000.00 from Elochukwu Okoye and Elebana Unique Ventures Nigeria Limited on behalf of WAPCIL Nigeria Limited under the false rep

 BENUE STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY TO AMEND CHIEFTAINCY LAW FOR MORE EFFICIENCY

The Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Chief Hon. Hyacinth Aondona Dajoh has said Benue Assembly will amend the Benue Chieftaincy law to provide for the construction of befitting offices and accommodations for traditional rulers in the state


Chief Dajoh made the statement during an interface with Ter Tyoshin, HRH Chief Daniel Ayua Abomtse in Naka, Gwer West LGA


Chief Dajoh stated that when the amendment is passed into law, traditional rulers will have   befitting accommodation and offices for effective administration


In his speech, Ter Tyoshin, HRH Chief Daniel Abomtse appreciated the speaker for his purposeful leadership, adding that one of the important section of the Chieftaincy law that should be amended is section 12 to upgrade second class chiefs to first class to be on par with Local Government Chiefs in other states. Chief Abomtse said such amendment will reform the traditional institution. 


The paramount ruler also appealed with the Speaker to reach out to the appropriate authorities to remobilize Gilmour Engineering Company to complete the Makurdi-Naka road, adding that the road has become a death trap and kidnappers den


The royal father also made passionate appeal for concerted efforts to summon the challenge of insecurity especially in Gwer West, explaining that he lost his wards while farming activities has also been greatly affected.
