 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots.  𝐁𝐎𝐓𝐒𝐖𝐀𝐍𝐀 𝐏𝐎𝐋𝐈𝐂𝐄 𝐒𝐄𝐑𝐕𝐈𝐂𝐄 𝐂𝐄𝐋𝐄𝐁𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐒 𝟏𝟒𝟎 𝐘𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐒 𝐎𝐅 𝐄𝐗𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄


The celebrations opened with the awarding of medals yesterday (02/08/24) and ended today with a beehive of activities and entertainment. The event was graced by His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Botswana, Dr Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi. 


The President bestowed medals on deserving police officers of different ranks. The medals included Botswana Police Long Service and Good Conduct which is awarded at 18 years of service; Botswana Police Service Jubilee given at 25years and Botswana Police Distinguished Service Order for 30 years.


His Excellency also inspected the Guard of Honour and Ceremonial Parades on the two days respectively mounted by BPS in his honour. He was amongst the multitudes who celebrated this magnificent event first hand.


The event was broadcast live on Botswana Television, various government Facebook pages including BWgovernment and BPS.  On the menu of activities, the spectators were served amongst others, the tug of war, callisthenics, motorcycle, band and air displays and acrobatics.
