 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville.  *Soludo Inaugurates Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission*

Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, has on Tuesday, August 6, inaugurated the chairman and members of the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC).


The chairman of the Commission is Magistrate Chinelo Genevieve Osakwe while the members are as follows: Mrs. Bernadine Obande (FCA), Barrister Osita Cyril Igbokwe, Sir Chinedu Anthony Nnalue, Mrs. Helen Ifeyinwa Umeh, and Mr. John Emeka Okeke.


The Commission is tasked with setting the date for local government elections and overseeing the organization and conduct of peaceful and transparent local government polls in Anambra State.


While inaugurating the Commission, Governor Soludo stated that the 1999 Nigerian Constitution as well as the Anambra State Electoral Law has explicitly mandated ANSIEC to conduct the local government elections in a transparent and independent manner.


Governor Soludo charged the members of ANSIEC to serve with honour and integrity in an exemplary way that will highlight the Anambra ethos as “The Light of the Nation”.


The chairman of ANSIEC, Magistrate Chinelo Genevieve Osakwe assured Governor Soludo that her team is a formidable team that will wade through the storm and offer the enlightened people of Anambra State diligent and transparent service based on their antecedents.
