 Sudan’s Burhan visits Egypt for talks on ongoing war with paramilitary RSF Leaders of Sudan and Egypt discussed on Thursday ways to strengthen bilateral relations and the latest Sudanese developments amid ongoing fighting with the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF). Head of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, arrived in Cairo for a one-day visit, and was welcomed by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi upon arrival. An Egyptian presidency statement said the two leaders discussed the latest situation in Sudan and regional and international efforts to restore peace and stability in the country. Sisi affirmed Egypt’s support for the Sudanese people and its firm position on Sudan's unity, sovereignty, security, and stability.  Imo LG polls: Gov Uzodinma denies endorsing aspirants


The Imo State Government has refuted a report alleging that the Governor of the State, Hope Uzodinma has already endorsed certain candidates ahead of the September 21 council polls, describing the report as false and misleading.


In a release by the SSA to the governor on Electronic Media, Ambrose Nwaogwugwu, he stated that the Governor had never done any endorsement of the aspirants.


“We want to categorically state that this claim is false and misleading. Governor Uzodimma has not endorsed any aspirant for the elections, neither privately nor publicly.


“There is no list of endorsed aspirants existing anywhere, and the Governor has not made any statements to that effect and will not make,” he stated.


He added that in a recent stakeholders’ meeting, the Governor urged all aspirants to go and meet the electorate for their votes without waiting for personal endorsement.


“We want to emphasize that the Governor is a true democrat who would allow true democracy ethos to thrive and is committed to a free and fair election and will not influence the outcome.


“We therefore advise the public to discountenance such false information and instead focus on the issues and qualifications of the aspirants for consideration for election at the appropriate time,” he further stated.
