 Terrorists, banditry activities in Northwest have reduced – Shehu Sani Shehu Sani, a former Kaduna Central Senator, has disclosed a decrease in the activities of terrorists and bandits in the Northwest. Sani said the recent killings of some top terrorists’ leaders could have been responsible for the decrease. Posting on X, the former lawmaker wrote: “In the last few weeks, there is a noticeable decrease in terrorist and banditry attacks and kidnappings in the North Western parts of this country. “The elimination of some of the top terrorist leaders must have been responsible.This is commendable and should be sustained.” In the past weeks, notable bandit leaders have been killed in the North. Those eliminated include- Haliru Kachalla Sububu or Buzu, Kachalla Tukur Sharme (killed by rival gang), Sani Black, another prominent bandit leader, killed along with his brother and two children, Kachalla Makore, Kachalla Mai Shayi Kachalla Tsoho Lulu and Mai’Yar Gitta.  LAGOS TASKFORCE CRACKS DOWN ON MISCREANTS ALONG LEKKI-EPE EXPRESSWAY


The Lagos State Taskforce has commenced a comprehensive operation aimed at ridding the Lekki-Epe Expressway of miscreants and suspected criminals who have been terrorizing motorists and residents in the area.


The operation, which took place across key locations including Chisco Roundabout, Elegushi, Ikate Roundabout, and Marwa Bus Stop, was executed following series of complaints lodged by concerned motorists and residents through the Agency’s feedback channels. These individuals reported an alarming rise in criminal activities, particularly during rush hour, where hoodlums would lie in wait at inconspicuous spots along the expressway to pounce on unsuspecting passersby and motorists.


Speaking on the operation, the Chairman of the Lagos State Taskforce, CSP Adetayo Akerele, under special directives of the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Adegoke Fayoade emphasized the agency's commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents in Lagos. "We cannot allow these criminal elements to hold our people hostage in their own communities. The State Government, remains steadfast in its resolve to protect lives and property. This operation is a testament to our unwavering dedication to this cause," the Chairman stated.


The Lagos State Taskforce, which was met with widespread applause from motorists who witnessed the operation, has assured residents that this exercise is part of a its mandate as enshrined in the THEMES PLUS Agenda of the State to restore law and order along the Lekki-Epe Expressway and across the Metropolis.


CSP Akerele further disclosed that the Agency had carried out initial surveillance in the area where it was discovered that these miscreants make use of the pedestrian Bridges at Ikate and Marwa Bus Stop to spot broken down vehicles and pounce on the occupants. He assured that all these have become a thing of the past as their activities have been completely grounded. 


Motorists and residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the Agency or the nearest police station. 


“We remain on high alert and will continue to carry out surveillance and sting operations aimed at safeguarding the lives and property of motorists and residents along this axis and beyond”.He stated
