Their last fight in 2023 ended in a bowl, and the latest showdown was heading the same route after referee Hector Afu from Panama exited the ring in the second round and was replaced by Alfredo Uruzquieta of Mexico, per BBC Sport.
The Panamanian referee was reportedly unhappy about Mayweather's protests after he felt his left hook was illegal. After the referee switch, Mayweather was really troubled by Gotti, the grandson of a former mafia boss, per Nine.com.au. Mayweather was declared the unofficial winner of the fight.
