 LASG HOSTS Y2024 WOMEN'S ASSEMBLY TO EMPOWER, CELEBRATE WOMEN Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reaffirmed his administration's commitment to advancing and empowering women, describing them as the pillars of communities, contributing in numerous ways as mothers, entrepreneurs, educators and leaders.  Governor Sanwo-Olu stated this in his keynote address at the 2024 Women's Assembly for Local Government and Local Council Development Areas organised by the Ministry of Women's Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) at the De Blue Roof, LTV 8 complex, Agindigbi Ikeja.  The Governor, represented by the Secretary to the State Governor, Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, described the Assembly as a critical platform for celebrating women’s contributions and tackling challenges affecting their well-being. SOON FACIAL RECOGNITION WILL BE THE NEW PASSPORT TO ENTER SINGAPORE. (PHOTO).

 Soon you will no longer need a passport to go to Singapore, a major step forward. You will soon no longer need your passport to transit through Singapore's Changi Airport, which has been experimenting with facial recognition technology since this summer. It is nicknamed "the most beautiful airport in the world"..


Famous for its elliptical infrastructure with thousands of glass panels and its unmissable forty-meter-high Jewel waterfall,  Singapore Changi Airport combines tropical garden ambiance and modernity..


Just recently, an element worthy of a science fiction film has added a new touch of avant-garde to the place: this summer, facial recognition systems appeared there. Indeed, since August 5, there is no longer any need to present your passport to customs… It is the passenger's face that serves as an identity document..


The operation lasts a few seconds, and simply consists of placing yourself in front of a scanner, to let your face and iris be identified..


The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority assures that this new control method reduces waiting time by 30 to 40% in the local daily  The Straits Times..

  SSANU, NASU threaten strike over withheld salaries The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have threatened to disrupt industrial peace in universities should the government fail to release the withheld salaries of members. The salaries were seized by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari during their strike in 2022. The unions, in a joint letter signed on Friday by the President of SSANU, Muhammed Ibrahim and General Secretary of NASU, Peters Adeyemi, questioned the rationale with which the government released four months withheld salaries to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities but failed to release the withheld salaries of non-academic staff.
