 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville. WHO AFRICAN: DR FAUSTINE ENGELBERT NDUGULILE ELECTED NEW REGIONAL DIRECTOR. (PHOTO).

 WHO African: Dr Faustine Engelbert Ndugulile Elected New Regional Director 


Dr Faustine Engelbert Ndugulile of Tanzania has been nominated as the next Regional Director for the World Health Organization (WHO) African Region. He takes over from Dr. Matshidiso Moeti, who has served two five-year terms at the helm.


African Member States voted to nominate Dr. Ndugulile during the seventy-fourth session of the WHO Regional Committee for Africa, held in Brazzaville, Republic of the Congo. 


Other candidates were Dr Boureima Hama Sambo of Niger, Dr Ibrahima Socé Fall of Senegal and Dr Richard Mihigo of Rwanda.


Dr Ndugulile's nomination will be submitted for appointment by the 156th session of the WHO Executive Board, which wilp place in February 2025 in Geneva, Switzerland. The newly appointed Regional Director will take office thereafter for a five-year term renewal once.
