 Zambia president approves law expanding parliament months before election Zambia's President Hakainde Hichilema on Thursday signed into law constitutional changes that will expand the country's parliament, Reuters reported. The changes increase the number of members of parliament to around 280 from 167 currently by creating more constituencies, reserving 40 new seats for women, youth and people with disabilities, and allowing the president to appoint 11 members instead of eight previously. Hichilema, who will run for a second presidential term in the August 2026 election, said during a signing ceremony that the changes were being made in good faith and there was adequate consultation. He previously argued that some constituencies were too big for effective service delivery and should be split into smaller ones.  Designer of Nigeria's national flag laid to rest after one-year Wait for state burial


Family of Nigerian Flag Designer, Taiwo Akinkunmi, proceeds with burial after one-year wait for state funeral


The family of Pa Taiwo Akinkunmi, the designer of Nigeria’s national flag, has laid him to rest after waiting for over a year for a promised state funeral that never materialized.


Despite assurances from the Federal Government, Akinkunmi's family revealed they were compelled to proceed with the burial as they could no longer afford the daily N2,000 morgue fee required to keep his body.


The Oyo State Government ultimately provided the necessary funds for the burial, stepping in to support the family in honouring the late national icon.
