 Catholic priest reportedly klled in Kogi  A Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Samuel Opeyemi Oyetoro, has been reportedly killed by unknown assailants in Ajaokuta, Kogi State. According to reports, the priest was stabbed multiple times along Ajaokuta road on Wednesday, 29th July 2026. His body was found dumped at the roadside.  Rev. Fr. Oyetoro was born in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State and a native of Ayetoro in Ijumu Local Government Area.  Until his death, he served as a priest at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Egbe.  Designer of Nigeria's national flag laid to rest after one-year Wait for state burial


Family of Nigerian Flag Designer, Taiwo Akinkunmi, proceeds with burial after one-year wait for state funeral


The family of Pa Taiwo Akinkunmi, the designer of Nigeria’s national flag, has laid him to rest after waiting for over a year for a promised state funeral that never materialized.


Despite assurances from the Federal Government, Akinkunmi's family revealed they were compelled to proceed with the burial as they could no longer afford the daily N2,000 morgue fee required to keep his body.


The Oyo State Government ultimately provided the necessary funds for the burial, stepping in to support the family in honouring the late national icon.
