 Rebels to withdraw from key DR Congo town 'after US request' The M23 rebel group has said it would withdraw from the eastern DR Congo town of Uvira at the request of the US administration, which had criticised seizure of the town last week as a threat to mediation efforts. The rebels entered Uvira, on the border with Burundi, less than a week after the presidents of Congo and Rwanda met with US President Donald Trump in Washington and affirmed their commitment to a peace deal known as the Washington Accords. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Saturday that Rwanda's actions in eastern Congo violated the Washington Accords and vowed to "take action to ensure promises made to the President are kept." A report by a United Nations group of experts in July said Rwanda exercised command and control over the rebels.  Federal University of Lokoja Student Arrested For Allegedly Abducting, Killing Colleague


A student of the Federal University, Lokoja, has been arrested in connection with the d*ath of his fellow student.


The student, identified as Jeremiah, was arrested in connection with the murd*r of Damilola, a 100-level Biology student of the Federal University Lokoja.


Reports indicate that the suspect, from Kaduna State, allegedly abducted Damilola, and took her to an uncompleted building. 


After demanding and receiving a ransom of N400,000 from her family, Jeremiah allegedly k!lled Damilola and removed her vital organs.


After the kill!ng Damilola, the suspect allegedly contacted her family again, demanding an additional N10 million. 


However, he was tracked by police to his location and arrested. 


The suspect confessed to acting alone and led authorities to where he had left her remains, stating that he took her life because she had seen his face after the abduction.
