Late Gros Bédel’s Funeral Gets People talking

The funeral of Ivorian producer, Le Gros Bedel that took place on Sunday, September 15 was marked by an unusual ceremony.

His body was presented seated on a throne, a singular tribute to the departed man.

It turns out that the deceased belonged to the Akan ethnic group, more specifically the Nzima, a population originally from Grand-Bassam. This tradition, which has its roots in the funeral practices of a nearby Ghanaian ethnic group, aimed to honour the deceased by paying tribute to them in a similar way to their past life.

Le gros Bédel passed away on 2 July 2024. Two months after his death, his fans and loved ones are still mourning him.

Sweet rest to his soul!
