 Lagos Court Jails NOGASA Chair, Fatuyi Phillips 21 Years  for N43.5m Fraud    Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, on Monday, November 18, 2024, convicted and sentenced Fatuyi Yemi Philips, Chairman, Natural Oil and Gas Suppliers Association of Nigeria, NOGASA, to 21 years imprisonment for N43.5m fraud.   The Lagos Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on April 5, 2022, arraigned Philips alongside his firm, Oceanview Oil and Gas Limited, on a two-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of N43, 502,000.00   Count one reads: "Fatuyi Yemi Philips and Oceanview Oil and Gas Nigeria Limited, on or about the 28th day of September, 2016 at Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, with intent to defraud, obtained the aggregate sum of N43, 502,000.00 from Elochukwu Okoye and Elebana Unique Ventures Nigeria Limited on behalf of WAPCIL Nigeria Limited under the false rep

 LGA CHAIRMAN PERFORMS GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONY FOR  CONSTRUCTION OF MUSEUM, LIBRARY IN EPE 


The Executive Chairman of Epe Local Government, Hon. Princess Surah Animashaun has performed a unique groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a building for museum and library centres in Epe Local Government.


In her speech at the event,  Animashaun disclosed that creating a museum within Epe Local Government Area (LGA) is crucial for safeguarding and preserving  cultural heritage and displaying the rich cultural history to the outside world. The museum will serve as a repository of collective and shared memories, containing relics, exhibits, and interactions that tell the story of the community's evolution and monumental development. 


According to her, "By opening up Epe for tourism through museums, we can spread our unique and distinct cultural heritage with people from different places and walks of life, encouraging mutual understanding and interaction. This will not just boost residents' pride but will also help the local economy by increasing tourism revenue".


The museum, she said, will equally serve as a valuable educational tool for children, giving them hands-on learning opportunities that will bring history to life. She noted that Students can develop a stronger sense of belonging and deepen their cultural roots by exploring the museum's artefacts.


Animashaun added that, this, in turn, will motivate a new generation of leaders, innovators and influencers who are ready to mould the future of the  society to attain a global pedestal.


In her words, "Setting up a contemporary library is essential for 21st-century education. The library will provide an extensive range and collection of digital and print resources, such as e-books, online databases, and multimedia materials. This will allow students and researchers to access a vast amount of information, conduct research, and enhance critical thinking skills". 


In addition, the library, she said, will offer a collaborative learning space, furnished with state-of-the-art technology, facilitating group work, idea sharing and discovery of innovative concept, " By establishing a museum and setting up a contemporary library, we can create a vibrant cultural and intellectual centre that enriches the experiences of both our locals and tourists alike. 


"These establishments will not just protect and preserve our history but also foster a culture of learning, creativity, and advancement that will propel our LGA forward", the Chairman stated.

Lawal Bolanle, Supervisor for WAPA; Hon. Hassan Omotola, SA on Tourism and Hon Gbabijo Olalekan, SA on Revenue, among others.
