 NSCDC Deploys 4,000 Personnel in FCT for Yuletide Security The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) FCT Command has assured residents of robust security throughout the Christmas and New Year festivities. Commandant Olusola Odumosu announced that 4,000 personnel have been deployed across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and its surrounding areas to ensure public safety and protect Critical National Assets and Infrastructure. The personnel, drawn from various specialized units including the Special Intervention Squad, Counter Terrorism Unit, Arm Squad, Agro Rangers, and others, will work to maintain peace and order during the festive season. In a statement issued on Thursday, signed by command spokesperson Monica Ojobi, Odumosu called for strict adherence to the operation order and emphasized the importance of securing key locations such as infrastructure, worship centers, markets, and recreational areas.  Ondo man arrested for shooting rival in concubine’s home


The Ondo state police command has arrested a 43-year-old man, Mr. Ajagba Joseph, for allegedly attempting to murder a man he found in his concubine’s house.


This was made known in a statement shared by the police command on X.com on Wednesday.


According to the statement the incident occurred on August 23rd when Joseph visited his lover’s home and met another man, who was also reportedly in a relationship with the same woman.


Angered by the situation, Joseph allegedly pulled out a single-barrel gun and shot the other man.


The victim survived the attack and is currently recuperating from his injuries.


The statement said, “Attempted Murder – This married man, Mr Ajagba Joseph aged 43 on 23rd of Aug, went to his concubine’s house n met a co concubine, he became angry and shot the other concubine with his single barrel gun, victim recuperating, suspect in custody and will soon be charged to court.


“For clarity, the man met another lover ( a man) in the woman’s house”

  SSANU, NASU threaten strike over withheld salaries The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have threatened to disrupt industrial peace in universities should the government fail to release the withheld salaries of members. The salaries were seized by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari during their strike in 2022. The unions, in a joint letter signed on Friday by the President of SSANU, Muhammed Ibrahim and General Secretary of NASU, Peters Adeyemi, questioned the rationale with which the government released four months withheld salaries to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities but failed to release the withheld salaries of non-academic staff.
