Police declare Andrew Wynne wanted over alleged plot to ‘overthrow’ Tinubu

The Nigerian police high command issued a wanted notice for Andrew Wynne, a British national also known as Andrew Povich or Drew Povey, accusing him of conspiring to overthrow President Bola Tinubu’s government.

The police have launched a thorough investigation into how foreign mercenaries and other subversive elements allegedly plotted to undermine Nigeria’s democratically elected government.

Police spokesperson Olumuyiwa Adejobi, an Assistant Commissioner of Police, revealed at a press briefing at Force Headquarters in Abuja that Wynne rented space at Labour House in Abuja under the guise of establishing ‘Iva Valley Bookshop’ and ‘STARS of Nations Schools’ to conceal his subversive activities.

Adejobi stated that documentary evidence and confessions show Wynne issued directives and monitored the August protest.

According to Adejobi, Wynne provided both financial and operational support to facilitate an unconstitutional regime change in Nigeria.

The Nigerian Police Force has undertaken a comprehensive investigation into these activities, focusing on foreign nationals and subversive elements aiming to destabilize the country through illegal means.

The investigation, supported by intelligence gathering and collaboration with other security agencies, has led to the apprehension of nine suspects who allegedly received significant foreign funding to incite violence and spread misinformation.

These activities were intended to create chaos and justify an unlawful attempt to topple the government.

This development follows the Department of State Services’ (DSS) recent arrest of Polish nationals in Kano during the protest.

Although Polish authorities claimed their citizens were merely attending an exchange program at Bayero University, Kano, they were detained for several weeks before being released.

The police also summoned Comrade Joe Ajaero, President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), due to Wynne’s association with Labour House. Although Ajaero complied with the initial invitation last week, the police have now issued a second invitation.
