 Lagos Court Jails NOGASA Chair, Fatuyi Phillips 21 Years  for N43.5m Fraud    Justice Mojisola Dada of the Special Offences Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, on Monday, November 18, 2024, convicted and sentenced Fatuyi Yemi Philips, Chairman, Natural Oil and Gas Suppliers Association of Nigeria, NOGASA, to 21 years imprisonment for N43.5m fraud.   The Lagos Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on April 5, 2022, arraigned Philips alongside his firm, Oceanview Oil and Gas Limited, on a two-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence to the tune of N43, 502,000.00   Count one reads: "Fatuyi Yemi Philips and Oceanview Oil and Gas Nigeria Limited, on or about the 28th day of September, 2016 at Lagos, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, with intent to defraud, obtained the aggregate sum of N43, 502,000.00 from Elochukwu Okoye and Elebana Unique Ventures Nigeria Limited on behalf of WAPCIL Nigeria Limited under the false rep

 Troops Arrest Suspected Kidnappers’ Informant In Taraba


Troops have apprehended a woman suspected of being an informant for kidnappers in Taraba State.


According to Captain Oni Olubodunde, the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 6 Brigade in Jalingo, the suspect was arrested on September 6, 2024, in Sondi village, located within the Wukari Local Government Area.


The suspect, identified as Miss Markus Grace, is reportedly the girlfriend of a notorious kidnapper known as ‘Chen,’ who has been terrorizing local residents.


Captain Oni further stated that the suspect is currently in custody and undergoing investigation to determine the extent of her involvement in various criminal activities.


The Army spokesman also announced that troops intercepted a Toyota Yaris with the registration number Taraba KLD 652 XA, which was carrying an AK-47 rifle and an AK-47 magazine.


Additionally, two Identity Cards from the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) were recovered from the vehicle.


He explained that while on routine stop-and-search patrol in Bantaje town of the Wukari council on September 5, 2024, the troops flagged down a suspicious blue Toyota Yaris that was traveling from Wukari towards Jalingo.


Captain Oni further noted that the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled into nearby bushes when it was stopped.


Upon conducting a thorough search of the abandoned vehicle, the troops discovered the firearms and the NURTW Identity Cards belonging to Isa Ibrahim and Mallam Isa Garin Tukura, both from Gassol Local Government Area.


He confirmed that investigations are ongoing to trace and apprehend the suspect, as well as to ascertain the involvement of the individuals associated with the identity cards.
