STAEHOUSE PRESS RELEASE   PRESIDENT TINUBU: WE WILL CONTINUE TO SUSTAIN BUHARI'S LEGACIES.   President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Monday in Abuja, stated that his administration will continue to honour former President Muhammadu Buhari by sustaining his legacies of purposeful leadership, discipline, integrity, and the belief that public office is a trust, not a windfall.   President Tinubu made this commitment at the State House Conference Centre during the unveiling and public presentation of the book, *From Soldier to Statesman – The Legacy of Muhammadu Buhari*, authored by Dr Charles Omole.   He said the book offers Nigerians the opportunity to learn from President Buhari, and affirmed that the greatest honour to bestow on the late President is to sustain his legacies.   "This book reinforces the public memory. It outlines achievements and flaws, as all honest histories should. It should motivate future leaders to learn lessons rather than repeat slogans. ...

In a shocking case of revenge, a 30-year-old man, Gopal Singh Bhati, ran over and killed Nakhat Singh Bhati, his father’s murderer, after waiting 22 years for the right moment.

The incident occurred in Bodakdev, where Nakhat, aged 50, was crushed by a pickup truck while riding his bicycle on Tuesday. Initially thought to be an accident, investigations revealed it was a premeditated act by Gopal, who had been seeking revenge since he was just eight years old.

The revenge traces back to 2002, when Gopal’s father, Hari Singh Bhati, was killed in a similar manner in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. Nakhat and his four brothers were convicted of Hari’s murder and served seven years in prison. Gopal, determined to avenge his father’s death, waited over two decades to carry out the act. Inspector S.A. Gohil of the N Division Traffic said, “Gopal had been waiting all these years to exact a cruel revenge.”

On the day of the incident, Nakhat, who worked as a security guard in Thaltej, was run over by Gopal, who had recently purchased the pickup truck specifically for this purpose. After mowing down Nakhat, Gopal attempted to flee but was apprehended by police shortly after. Investigations revealed that Gopal had conducted a recce of Nakhat’s location the week before the murder, confirming the deliberate nature of the crime.

Inspector Gohil also mentioned that the enmity between Gopal’s village, Ajasar, and Nakhat’s village, Badoda, in Jaisalmer, runs deep, with several failed attempts at reconciliation between the families. Gopal has been detained, and a case of murder has been registered against him with the Bodakdev police.
