Lagos police launch investigation as jeweller  accuses its officers of harassment The Lagos State Police Command said it has commenced an investigation into a viral video of a jeweller accusing some policemen in the Festac area of the state of harassing him.  The command disclosed this in an X post on Saturday. The video, which circulated on X on Saturday morning, shows the businessman engaged in a struggle with some policemen. Later in the video, the businessman could be seen with a bloody face after allegedly sustaining a cut beside his right eye during the struggle with the police officers,  The jeweller later explained that the policemen from the Festac Division had stopped him for a routine search.  Anambra State Government Takes Action Against Illegal Schools

The Anambra State Government has established a Committee to address the issue of unregistered schools operating illegally within the state.


This committee, tasked with closing down all unapproved schools, met at the Ministry of Education to strategize on how to effectively execute its mandate.


During the meeting at the State Secretariat Complex, the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, urged the committee members to carry out their responsibilities with integrity, without fear or bias.


She highlighted that the illegal operation of schools has been an ongoing challenge in the state, which has resisted previous efforts to regulate it. However, with the current administration's zero-tolerance policy under Gov. Soludo and the formation of the new committee, the state aimed to put an end to the problem.


The commissioner also said that the ministry would provide the committee with a list of non-compliant schools and urged the operators of these schools to take necessary steps to avoid being shut down. 


Data from the ministry revealed that there are over 1000 unapproved schools in the state.
